The Bolivar Central Tigers will take on the Milan Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bolivar Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Bolivar Central is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 26 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Haywood on Monday. They lost 9-2 to the Tomcats. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.
Bolivar Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haley Burns, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Milan ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Ripley 6-5. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Camryn Green was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Green was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maycee Masters, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Laylah Dinwiddie was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Milan's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Bolivar Central, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bolivar Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .566. However, it's not like Milan struggles in that department as they've averaged .512. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
