Avenal and San Luis Obispo squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Avenal had to settle for second. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Buccaneers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Layla Lopez was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Rivas, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two doubles, and one run.

Avenal's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7-1. As for San Luis Obispo, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10-1 record this season.
