Basketball Recap: Sapulpa Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Sapulpa was the 56-48 winner over Bixby when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Sapulpa Chieftains were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 39-38 to the Bixby Spartans.

When it comes to explaining why Sapulpa lost, don't look at Riki McQuarters. Despite the final result, she went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points and eight rebounds. McQuarters is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kianna Littlebear, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Sapulpa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games dating back to last season.

Sapulpa's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Sapulpa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-32 defeat against Northside on the 7th. As for Bixby, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-62 loss against Booker T. Washington on the 7th.
