Preview: New Auburn Trojans vs. Winter Warriors
New Auburn is 9-1 against Winter since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The New Auburn Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Winter Warriors at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though New Auburn has not done well against Flambeau recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. New Auburn came out on top against Flambeau by a score of 55-47. The victory made it back-to-back wins for New Auburn.
Meanwhile, Winter's five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They blew past Cornell 94-34 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Winter has managed all season.
Carter Petit and Gunnar Greuel were among the main playmakers for Winter as the former scored 27 points along with eight assists and seven steals and the latter dropped a triple-double on 30 points, 26 rebounds, and 13 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Greuel has scored at least 25% of Winter's points. Malte Colliander was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with five rebounds.
New Auburn is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Winter, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
New Auburn came up short against Winter in their previous meeting back in February, falling 72-67. Can New Auburn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
