Softball Recap: Midlothian Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

Midlothian put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Clover Hill Cavaliers with a sharp 13-5 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Trojans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Marlee Gaskell made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Erika Fiege and Bella Moussa did most of the damage at the plate: Fiege scored four runs while going 4-for-5, while Moussa scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Moussa has posted since back in May of 2024. Erin Fiege was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Midlothian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clover Hill only posted a batting average of .241.

Midlothian's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Clover Hill, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Midlothian will host Monacan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Clover Hill, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against J.R. Tucker at 5:00 p.m.
