Softball Game Preview: Port Charlotte Pirates vs. Mariner Tritons

Port Charlotte hasn't had much luck against Mariner recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Port Charlotte will venture away from home to square off against Mariner at 7:00 p.m. Neither Port Charlotte nor Mariner posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Port Charlotte fell victim to DeSoto County and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Port Charlotte saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaylin Pinedo, who went 1-for-3 with one double. Rihanna Rosario also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Mariner suffered their biggest loss since March 26, 2024 on Thursday. They came up short against North Fort Myers, falling 8-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Tritons were not able to get on the board.

Mariner's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-4. As for Port Charlotte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

Port Charlotte might still be hurting after the 14-1 defeat they got from Mariner in their previous matchup back in March. Can Port Charlotte avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
