Soccer Game Preview: Colony vs. Chugiak

The Colony Knights will face off against the Chugiak Mustangs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Chugiak better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if Colony's game on Friday is any indication, that's when Colony really gets things going. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand Soldotna a 4-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for Colony in their matchups with Soldotna: they've now won seven in a row.

Asha Gerteisen and Avrie Geigerich scored all four of Colony's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Meanwhile, Chugiak entered their tilt with Eagle River on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on Wolves with a sharp 10-1 victory.

Chugiak pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 20 goals over those three games. As for Colony, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Colony's way against Chugiak in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Colony made off with a 4-0 win. Will the Knights repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
