Basketball Preview: Monroe Golden Tornadoes vs. Lee County Trojans
Monroe and Lee County are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Golden Tornadoes will face off against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Monroe knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Lee County likes a good challenge.

Monroe can attribute much of their success to Brayden Burns, who went 9-for-15 on his way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, and Tristan Terry, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 15 points and four steals. Those four steals gave Terry a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Robert Adams, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
Monroe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Lee County's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 64-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tift County.
Monroe's win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 56.8 points this season. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
