Recap: St. Mary's Ryken Knights vs. Francis Scott Key Eagles
The St. Mary's Ryken Knights can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Francis Scott Key out 52-50. The win was just what St. Mary's Ryken needed coming off of a 95-25 defeat in their prior matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Mary's Ryken to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zahria Higginbotham, who scored 21 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Sydney Thompson, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
St. Mary's Ryken's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Francis Scott Key, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Mary's Ryken won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against St. John's at 1:45 p.m. on January 28th. Hopefully St. John's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Francis Scott Key, they will head out on the road to challenge Century at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maryland (Century is ranked 101st, while Francis Scott Key is ranked 84th).
