Basketball Game Preview: Shenandoah Zeps vs. Monroe Central Seminoles

Shenandoah hasn't had much luck against Monroe Central recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Shenandoah Zeps will head out on the road to challenge the Monroe Central Seminoles at 6:00 p.m. Shenandoah is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50 points per game this season.

On Monday, Shenandoah humbled Shadyside with a 62-29 victory. Given the Zeps' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 320th, while the Tigers are ranked 694th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Shenandoah to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Moore, who posted 13 points along with eight steals and six assists. Moore has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 14 times she's played. Brenna Leach was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Shenandoah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Monroe Central lost 54-34 to Martins Ferry on Saturday. The Seminoles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monroe Central's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Shenandoah, their record is now 10-7.

Shenandoah came up short against Monroe Central when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 47-35. Can Shenandoah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
