Mead gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They managed a 50-45 victory over the Johnson County Central Thunderbirds. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 66-64 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Despite the loss, Johnson County Central still got an impressive performance from Wes Swanson, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 21 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Thies, who posted 12 points.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Mead is headed away from home for the first time to square off against Cornerstone Christian School on Tuesday. This will be the Raiders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Johnson County Central, they are taking a road trip to take on Southern on Tuesday.
