Basketball Recap: NorthPoint Christian Academy Takes a Loss

NorthPoint Christian Academy had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-4 to make it six. They had to suffer through a 91-61 loss at the hands of the Lee Park Prep Knights. If the NightHawks were looking for revenge after losing 65-40 to the Knights when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, NorthPoint Christian Academy had strong showings from Gabe Spann, who went 10-for-19 to rack up 25 points, and Kamon Toney, who shot 44% from the field on his way to 17 points and five boards. Crosby Holst also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

As for Lee Park Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points over those games.

Lee Park Prep got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cole O' Donoghue out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds. O' Donoghue also grabbed three steals, which is notable because the Knights are undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 0-3 otherwise. Aiden Arant was another key player, dropping a double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.

NorthPoint Christian Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 93-45 loss against Lincoln Charter on the 5th. Lee Park Prep has also already played their next contest (against Statesville Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
