The Donegal Indians will head out to challenge the Northern York Polar Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Donegal nor Eastern Lebanon County made it on the board until the ninth inning. The Indians won by a run and slipped past the Raiders 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted against the Raiders since April 19, 2023.
Chase Gerz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sawyer Floyd was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He has become a key player for Donegal: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 2-5 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Northern York gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Waynesboro 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Polar Bears.
Andrew Weaver looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ryland Yinger, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Matthew Kendall was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Donegal has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Northern York, their record now sits at 7-5.
Donegal came out on top in a nail-biter against Northern York in their previous matchup back in May of 2015, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
