Football Recap: Winters Blizzards vs. Frost Polar Bears
Winters unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 45-21 to the Frost Polar Bears on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
Several Blizzards players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nolan Martinez, who picked up 143 receiving yards and three scores. Martinez showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 64 yards. Coy Martinez was another key player, throwing for 212 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winters is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Munday at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Frost, they will square off against Itasca at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
