Lafayette is 9-1 against Dixie County since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Hornets will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Bears at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lafayette barely beat Fort White the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 16-2 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Kagan Hewett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season. Brayden Richardson was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Lafayette lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in February of 2025.

Meanwhile, Dixie County made easy work of Jefferson County on Tuesday and carried off a 26-2 victory.

Dixie County's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Lafayette, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lafayette hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Dixie County struggles in that department as they've averaged .351. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Lafayette was able to grind out a solid victory over Dixie County in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, winning 15-12. Do the Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
