Baseball Recap: Perrin-Whitt Drops Highest Score of Season Against Saint Jo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perrin-Whitt). They put the hurt on the Saint Jo Panthers with a sharp 16-6 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won four in a row.

Cole Keeney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Keeney was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Perrin-Whitt let Noah Morris and Fabian Lopez run wild. Morris went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Lopez went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Morris a new career-high. Case Lambert was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Perrin-Whitt hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saint Jo struck out nine times.

Perrin-Whitt's record is now 5-6. As for Saint Jo, their record now sits at 3-13.

Coincidentally, Perrin-Whitt and Saint Jo will both be playing Bryson the next time they take the field. The Panthers will host the Cowboys at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Pirates will head out to face them at 5:00 p.m. on the 25th.
