Selma dropped their record down to 16-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Washington Union Panthers by a score of  2-0. The  game marked the first time this year in which the Bears were not able to get on the board.
 Selma saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Sonny Rivera, who  went 1-for-2 with one  double. That  double was  Rivera's first of the season.
As for Washington Union, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won 11 of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
 On Washington Union's side,  Davin Finderup was a  major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Finderup has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with one  stolen base and one  run.
While Selma had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
