Basketball Recap: Portland Takes a Loss

Portland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Greenwood Gators, falling 84-62. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-24.

Despite the loss, Portland still got an impressive performance from Nate Honeycutt, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Calvert, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points.

Portland's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Greenwood, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

When Portland and Greenwood next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Portland will try to stop White House-Heritage's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
