Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mansfield Christian). They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over Genoa Christian Academy on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Flames as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Micah Walsh made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Walsh was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, JR Reeder was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Joshua Hillman was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-13. As for Genoa Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Mansfield Christian will head out to square off against Western Reserve at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Genoa Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
