Basketball Game Preview: North Smithfield Northmen vs. East Providence Townies

The North Smithfield Northmen just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the East Providence Townies at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

North Smithfield is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Smithfield, who was ranked 21st at the time (North Smithfield was ranked 19th). North Smithfield fell just short of Smithfield by a score of 40-38 on Monday.

Meanwhile, East Providence hadn't done well against Johnston recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. East Providence strolled past Johnston with points to spare, taking the game 49-31. The Townies pushed the score to 39-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Panthers cut but never quite recovered from.

North Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for East Providence, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
