Softball Recap: Clovis Takes a Loss

Clovis extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping them down to 3-18. They lost 15-0 to the Carlsbad Cavemen. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cavemen this season, with their most recent loss being a 21-2 defeat last Tuesday.

As for Carlsbad, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-11. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games.

For Carlsbad's part, Brooklyn Cook made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Cook posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addyson Vallejos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Marisela Reyes, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Carlsbad beat Clovis by a score of 14-4 later that day.
