Basketball Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 34th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 62-52 to the Eastmoor Academy Warriors. The 76ers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

It was another big night for Dekar Moultry, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 boards for Eastmoor Academy. Those 14 rebounds gave Moultry a new career-high. Aayden Johnson was another key player, putting up ten points and four steals.

Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Eastmoor Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season.

Independence will be playing at home against South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season. As for Eastmoor Academy, they will head out to square off against Marion-Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastmoor Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 52.7 points per game.
