Softball Recap: Nine Straight Home Wins for Brodhead

Brodhead put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Friday. They put the hurt on Columbus with a sharp 6-0 victory. The result was nothing new for Brodhead, who have now won three contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Ava Risum made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Tatum Ceslok was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Keegan Steinke was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Brodhead pushed their record up to 7-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season. As for Columbus, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Brodhead will venture away from home to square off against Dodgeville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Dodgers will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Columbus, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Lodi at 5:00 p.m.
