Softball Recap: Canby Wins Going Away Against Churchill

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canby). They put the hurt on the Churchill Lancers with a sharp 16-3 win on Tuesday. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 8.5 runs per game.

Taylor Saucedo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on four hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Madi Bigej was incredible, going 2-for-6 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. Rylee Morgan was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

The win got Canby back to even at 2-2. As for Churchill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coincidentally, Canby and Churchill will both be playing Cascade the next time they take the field. Canby will head out to face Cascade at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, while Churchill will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
