Softball Recap: Williamsport's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Williamsport dropped their record down to 9-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the State College Little Lions. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Millionaires couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for State College, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

For State College's part, Addison Harpster spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. Harpster has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paige Moriarta was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season. Sarah Mellott was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Williamsport will take on Shamokin Area at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for State College, they will face off against Cumberland Valley at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
