Basketball Recap: Spencer Victorious

Spencer won the last time they faced Hardaway, and Kerry Griffin did his part to make sure it happened again. The Spencer Greenwave blew past the Hardaway Hawks 70-50 on Monday thanks in part to Griffin, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 21 points. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Tyshaun Elzie was another key player, going 6 of 8 en route to 14 points. Those 14 points gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Hardaway lost, don't look at A'Nazhe Purnell. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Malahkii Scott, who earned six points.

Spencer's win bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Hardaway, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Spencer has already played their next contest, a 56-49 victory against Shaw on the 28th. As for Hardaway, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-47 loss against Jordan on the 28th.
