Softball Preview: Logansport Berries vs. Western Panthers
Logansport has enjoyed a six-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Western Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Logansport: 1.6, Western: 1.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Logansport will head out to face Western after giving up their first home loss of the season on Thursday. Logansport fell just short of Harrison by a score of 4-2. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Logansport has scored all season.
Brooklynn Hagerty spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Logansport saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatianna Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Western put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Noblesville.
Western also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Lucy George gave up just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 16 Ks.
At the plate, Chloe Linn was incredible, going 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBI, and a double. Brynley Erb was another key contributor, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.
Having lost for the first time this season, Logansport fell to 8-1. As for Western, their win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0.
