Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Timpview Thunderbirds
The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a rough 50-27 loss at the hands of Timpview. Maple Mountain has not had much luck with Timpview recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Maple Mountain lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jaynee Tanner, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Gause, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Timpview to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lina Ballin, who scored 17 points along with six assists and two steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ballin has scored at least a third of Timpview's points. Another player making a difference was Livia Eyre, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Maple Mountain's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-4. As for Timpview, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Maple Mountain will challenge Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Wasatch is ranked 14th, while Maple Mountain is ranked 29th). As for Timpview, they will head out on the road to take on Spanish Fork at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Spanish Fork is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
