Softball Game Preview: Good Hope Raiders vs. East Lawrence Eagles

The Good Hope Raiders will head out to face off against the East Lawrence Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Good Hope will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, Good Hope got the win against West Morgan by a conclusive 8-1. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Molly Benefield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lizzy Steed was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Haley Lay, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, East Lawrence didn't have quite enough to beat Hatton on Tuesday and fell 4-3. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Good Hope's victory bumped their record up to 10-5-1. As for East Lawrence, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Good Hope was able to grind out a solid win over East Lawrence in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Does Good Hope have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Lawrence turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
