Soccer Game Preview: Berkeley vs. Bishop O'Dowd

Berkeley is 0-8-2 against Bishop O'Dowd since January of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Berkeley Yellowjackets will look to defend their home pitch against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Berkeley's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Piedmont by a score of 2-0. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 80th, while the Highlanders are ranked 620th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oliver Adams and Samuel Sha scored both of Berkeley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd won against Castro Valley on Friday with one goal and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Monday. Bishop O'Dowd sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over Marin Academy. The Dragons' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Berkeley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those nine contests. As for Bishop O'Dowd, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-3-2.
