Softball Recap: Brownstown Central Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Brownstown Central's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Salem Lions a 10-0 shutout. The Braves haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Not much got past Shyla Steele, who gave up just a hit to keep Salem off the board. Steele has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brownstown Central let Lyla Huffman and Jaylee Yeadon run wild. Huffman scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Yeadon went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four hits gave Huffman a new career-high. Alex Davidson was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Brownstown Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Salem only posted an OBP of .150.

Brownstown Central pushed their record up to 2-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Brownstown Central will challenge Austin at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Salem, they will host Paoli at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
