Baseball Game Preview: Century Jaguars vs. Sherwood Bowmen

Century hasn't had much luck against Sherwood recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Jaguars will host the Bowmen at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Century is headed into the match having just posted their closest win since May 2, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past North Eugene 4-2.

Century let Damien Elizarraras and Lucas Gardner run wild. Elizarraras scored a run while going 1-for-2, while Gardner scored a run while going 2-for-4. Those two hits gave Gardner a new career-high. Jordan Farness also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, Sherwood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Mountainside 1-0. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Bowmen have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Sherwood's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Landon Brown, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Sherwood and bumps their season record up to 6-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 1 runs in those games. As for Century, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Century beat Sherwood 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Jaguars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bowmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
