Basketball Recap: Forest Hills Finds Playoff Glory Versus Bandys

With a playoff win on the line, Forest Hills rose to the challenge on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 55-54 victory over the Bandys Trojans. The win was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets as they're now sitting on nine straight.

Forest Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Leyah Melton, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 19 points and three steals. Melton has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Rushing, who posted 12 points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Despite the loss, Bandys still got an impressive performance from Lexi Vaughan, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 19 rebounds. Vaughan also grabbed five steals, which is notable because Bandys is 15-5 when she posts at least three steals, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Naudia Summerville, who put up 11 points along with seven steals and six assists.

Forest Hills pushed their record up to 26-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.8 points. As for Bandys, their loss dropped their record down to 18-9.

Forest Hills has already played their next match, a 78-45 defeat against East Burke on the 7th. Bandys does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
