Football Game Preview: Dan River Wildcats vs. Altavista Colonels

The Dan River Wildcats will square off against the Altavista Colonels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dan River has given up an average of 41.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dan River is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Appomattox County on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Wildcats had to suffer through a 62-14 loss at the hands of the Raiders. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-7.

Although Dan River took the loss, they still got scores from Josiah Farmer and Keyon Brooks.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Altavista). They blew past Nelson County 57-7 on Friday. The Colonels have beaten the Governors the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Governors has come to flipping the script.

Dan River better keep an eye on Jacorion Davis. He was instrumental in Altavista's win, rushing for 112 yards and two TDs.

Altavista now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Dan River, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Dan River was dealt a bruising 74-7 defeat at the hands of Altavista when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Wildcats were down 52-7.
