Baseball Recap: Manteca's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Manteca came tearing into Friday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Mountain House Mustangs with a sharp 13-1 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 11-1 win last Wednesday.

Jeremy Cross was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

Cross wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cameron Jimenez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another was Nate Slikker, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Manteca's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Mountain House, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12-1.

Looking ahead, Manteca will welcome Oakdale at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Oakdale's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Manteca's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mountain House, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Union at 4:00 p.m. on April 7.
