Basketball Recap: Grace Gallagher Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Cyprus

Hunter fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 41-37 victory over the Cyprus Pirates on Tuesday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolverines also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Hunter got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Grace Gallagher out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine blocks. Gallagher has been hot for a while, having posted two or more blocks the last 28 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Skye Davidson, who posted 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Hunter's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Cyprus, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hunter will venture away from home to square off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Granger's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Hunter has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Cyprus, they will head out to face off against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cyprus is facing Taylorsville at the right time seeing as Taylorsville is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
