Basketball Recap: Brandeis Snags Eighth Win in Last Nine Games

If Madison wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Brandeis, they should've done a better job of containing Mia Ramos. The Brandeis Broncos were the clear victor by a 54-33 margin over the Madison Mavericks on Tuesday thanks in part to Ramos, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 17 points and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.

Another player making a difference was Daryn Thienpont, who posted nine points and five steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in November of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Madison lost, don't look at Sophia Campa. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 13 en route to 16 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikaela Garcia, who scored seven points and eight rebounds.

Brandeis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-17 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 33.7% in those games and 24.6% outside of them. As for Madison, their defeat was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-28.

As of now, neither Brandeis nor Madison have any future games scheduled.
