Softball Recap: Laney Beats Topsail for Their Fifth Straight Win

Laney had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Topsail Pirates. Nine seems to be a good number for the Buccaneers as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Bailey Bettencourt was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Layla Carr, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Bettencourt wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Laney kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive contests.

Laney's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Topsail, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laney will host West Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Topsail, they will square off against Dixon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
