Newberry took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against St. Ignace, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Saints 15-13. The Indians' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Newberry's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-6. As for St. Ignace, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newberry will host Rudyard at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Indians surely won't give up without a fight. As for St. Ignace, they will welcome Manistique at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Emeralds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of.
