MaxPreps' No. 1 ranked team in the Xcellent 25 National Rankings stumbles in Arizona.

The Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) Gaels saw their normally potent offense suffer a power shortage in a contest with Downers Grove South (Ill.) in the second game of the Big League Dugout Tournament in Scottsdale, Ariz., on Tuesday.

The Gaels were 8-0 entering the game with Downers Grove South, following a 4-3 win over Hamilton on Monday that included a walkoff home run by T.J. White in the seventh.

However against Downers Grove South in a 3-1 loss, the Gaels managed only six hits including a triple by Joey Gallo, who scored the lone run, and doubles by Kenny Meimerstorf and Tyler Baker. The Gaels also struck out seven times in the loss.

Kansas State-bound Matt Wivinis got the win for Downers Grove South and he also had a pair of RBIs to boot. Wivinis gave up six hits and walked none.

The Gaels bounced back to defeat Brighton (Colo.) 11-0 on Wednesday and Corona del Sol (Tempe, Ariz.) 5-2 on Thursday morning to reach the championship game against Spanish Fork (Utah).
