Basketball Recap: Benson Comes Up Short

Benson lost to Upsala back in December of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Benson came up short against Upsala, falling 70-50. The game was over by the end of the first half, with no points scored by either team from that point forward.

Upsala's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zoey Leners led the charge by dropping a double-double with 24 points and 24 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Leners has scored at least a third of the Cardinals' points. Another player making a difference was Alexa Pilarski, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.

Benson's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8. As for Upsala, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-11.

Looking ahead, Benson will be playing at home against St. John's Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Upsala, they will venture away from home to challenge Kimball at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
