Basketball Recap: Urban Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Urban lost to Casa Grande back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Urban Blues enjoyed a cozy 58-41 win over the Casa Grande Gauchos. Given the Blues' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Gauchos are ranked 529th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Urban has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Casa Grande, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Urban will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lowell on January 2, 2025. As for Casa Grande, they and San Marin will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played.
