Soccer Game Preview: Carlsbad vs. Del Norte

The Carlsbad Lancers will head out on the road to square off against the Del Norte Nighthawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

After two halves, Carlsbad and Calexico settled for a 1-1 draw.

Carlsbad's goal came courtesy of Carlos Anguiano, which was the first he's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Del Norte kept a clean sheet against San Dieguito Academy on Friday. They beat the Mustangs by a goal, winning 1-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Nighthawks.

Del Norte's victory bumped their record up to 2-0-1. Carlsbad's draw makes their record 1-2-2 this season.

Carlsbad came out on top in a nail-biter against Del Norte in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Carlsbad since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
