Volleyball Recap: Soddy Daisy Trojans vs. Silverdale Academy Seahawks
Soddy Daisy was the 2-0 winner over Silverdale Academy when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Soddy Daisy Trojans fell just short of the Silverdale Academy Seahawks by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.
Soddy Daisy took Silverdale Academy into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-23, 25-20, 18-25, 15-7.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aubrey Renfro, who had six digs and 22 assists. Renfro is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted ten or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Kylie Bunch, who had 11 digs and two aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Soddy Daisy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in three consecutive matches.
Silverdale Academy found their leader in underclassman Reese Creekmore, who had nine digs.
Soddy Daisy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-15-1. As for Silverdale Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.
