Basketball Game Preview: Wingate Generals vs. Brooklyn College Academy

The Wingate Generals will square off against Brooklyn College Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Wingate was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to Frank J. Macchiarola. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (57), the Generals still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Brooklyn College Academy entered their tilt with Brooklyn Prospect on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 72-63 win over the Hawks. Given Brooklyn College Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 151st, while Brooklyn Prospect is ranked 586th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

This is the second loss in a row for Wingate and nudges their season record down to 5-4. As for Brooklyn College Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

Wingate couldn't quite finish off Brooklyn College Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 and fell 50-47. Can Wingate avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
