The Liberty Union Lions on the road again on Thursday and play against the Westfall Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on January 18th. Westfall took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Liberty Union, who comes in off a win.
Liberty Union scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Whetstone 54-23 on the road. The victory was just what Liberty Union needed coming off of a 50-29 defeat in their prior game.
Liberty Union found their leader in underclassman Macey Smith, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Love, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Westfall's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. Their tough 51-25 defeat to Adena might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Westfall in their matchups with Adena: they've now lost eight in a row.
Liberty Union's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-10. As for Westfall, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-14 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Liberty Union against Westfall in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 as the squad secured a 61-34 victory. Does Liberty Union have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westfall turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
