Softball Recap: South Charleston Wins Going Away Against Parkersburg

South Charleston barely beat Parkersburg the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Black Eagles were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Big Reds on Wednesday. The Black Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jayden Riedel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Riedel was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Sophie Frye was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cayden Holcomb, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

South Charleston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-15 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Parkersburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

South Charleston has already played their next game, a 9-1 win against Oak Hill on the 1st. As for Parkersburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 10-3 victory against Midland Trail on the 2nd.
