Basketball Recap: Woods Charter Comes Up Short

Woods Charter suffered their biggest loss since February 27, 2024 on Monday. They were dealt an 81-35 defeat at the hands of the Southern Wake Academy Lions. The Wolves haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Woods Charter lost, don't look at Bhuvanesh Senthil. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxwell Carr, who earned seven points.

Southern Wake Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seung Surmons, who went 9 for 16 to rack up 21 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. The contest was Surmons' sixth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kobe Plata, who scored 12 points along with eight assists and five boards.

Woods Charter's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Southern Wake Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season.

Woods Charter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-15 victory against Ascend Leadership on the 4th. As for Southern Wake Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 73-23 win against River Mill on the 4th.
