Soccer Recap: Gunn Comes Up Short

Gunn was the 5-1 winner over Fremont when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. While the 3-3 score might suggest a draw, it was the Fremont Firebirds who were credited with the victory on Saturday. The Fremont Firebirds got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Gunn Titans' two. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Titans came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Firebirds are ranked 676th).

Gunn's loss dropped their record down to 2-2-3. As for Fremont, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunn will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Saratoga at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd. Fremont also won't see the pitch for a while: their next game is against Los Gatos at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd.
