Baseball Recap: West Valley Wolf Pack vs. Service Cougars
West Valley had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-5 to make it four. They lost 11-0 to the Service Cougars. The Wolf Pack were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in June of 2017.
West Valley saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Taylor, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Taylor has hit this season.
As for Service, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 6-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.
On Service's side, Casey Stoops and Landon Martindale did most of the damage at the plate: Stoops went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Martindale went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Stoops a new career-high.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Valley will face off against Colony at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Service, they will challenge West Anchorage at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
